Statement of Faith

At First Love Church UK, we joyfully confess our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and affirm our unity with all true believers throughout the world. We are part of the one body of Christ - not merely defined by a denomination, movement, culture or nation, but by our shared faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. We seek to uphold the truth of God’s word, to walk in love toward all believers and to faithfully proclaim the Gospel until Christ returns. Our ethos is simply this: to love God, and to love others.

We believe in one God who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man – and that he is the greatest need of every human life. All of humanity has sinned and is separated from God. Salvation is God’s gift of grace, received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone.

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.”

1 Timothy 2:5

“For by grace you have been saved through faith… not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

Ephesians 2:8–9

We believe that the Bible - both the Old and New Testament - is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. The holy scriptures are the final standard for faith, doctrine and Christian living.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

2 Timothy 3:16–17

We believe that the global church is the body of Christ, composed of all who have been born again through faith in Jesus Christ. We affirm our unity with all genuine believers regardless of denomination, ethnicity, language or nation. While we may differ on secondary matters of doctrine and practice, we recognise all who hold to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as our brothers and sisters in the Lord.

“There is one body and one Spirit… one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all.”

Ephesians 4:4–6

The First Love Church stands firmly upon the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the authority of God’s Word. We gladly cooperate with and honour all faithful churches and believers who confess Jesus Christ as Lord. We do not claim exclusivity as God’s people but rather, we rejoice that we are members God’s universal church: united by the Holy Spirit, redeemed by the blood of Christ and commissioned together to make Him known throughout the world.

“For we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.”

Romans 12:5

“By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John 13:35
